Cape Ludowici Railroad Bridge

Scope of Services:

  • Install & Remove 185’ of Temporary Crane Access Trestle
  • 30” Ø Steel Pipe Pile Test Program
  • Furnish & Install 8 Steel Pipe Piles 30”Ø for Replacement Railroad Trestle

This project consists of installing 8 new 30”Ø pipe pile at an existing railroad bridge. After pipe piles are driven, their interiors are cleaned out and rebar and concrete are placed in them. Access is a major component of the process: it consists of constructing approximately 2500’ of access road; and installing temporary trestle to cross an existing culvert and for bridge crane access. After piling is installed, Cape Romain’s crane and operator will remain onsite to aid in CSX’s construction of the remainder of the project. The bridge is on an active, high speed rail with approximately 6 trains per work shift.
