Cape Romain is a subcontractor to Palmetto Corporation on this project. Bridge construction is scheduled to begin in early 2015, and completed in early 2016. US76 is being widened to four lanes, and therefore the one, existing two-lane bridge is being removed and replaced with two, side-by-side flat slab bridges. Index piles are required to determine final pile lengths, and the jobsite is going to be accessed utilizing pile-supported temporary crane trestles. Cape Romain is designing and installing temporary shoring systems to separate and shore up the grade changes between the new and old roadways.
