Pile repair for NCDOT: Cape Romain’s crew is made up of members of our diving division. Working from floats, boats, and barges the divers install pre-formed fiberglass forms around the piles in need of repair; they are then belted tight in many locations vertically up and down the pile; 6” of epoxy is poured into the bottom of the form where it is locked tightly to the pile. Once the epoxy has cured, either epoxy grout or class A concrete is deposited in the forms to form the protective layer around the piles. The fiberglass forms stay in place after the belts are removed for further protection of the piles.
