Scope of Services:

  • Construction of 60’ long hollow core bridge with approach slabs, concrete curbs, timber rails and stamped concrete topping.

Cape Romain Contractors, Inc. was sub-contracted under Gulf Stream Construction to build a sixty foot long hollow core slab bridge. This bridge is part of a private development known as Cane Bay. The bridge is founded on fifty foot long 14” square concrete pile. Index piles were driven and tested utilizing PDA to establish production pile lengths. The bridge was a routine 60’ long hollow core slab bridge except for the deck configuration. An 8’ wide timber pedestrian walkway along with a 2’ wide planter area were a part of the deck surface. Originally the vehicular riding surface was a 3” thick topping slab but the owner requested the topping slab be “stamped”. The riding surface of the bridge now has a cobblestone appearance that makes for a signature architectural feature of this new development.
