Charleston Naval Base Container Terminal – Phase 1

Scope of Services:

  • Construct 5000’ Long Steel Sheet-Pile and 36”Ø King Pile Retaining Wall
  • Dredge Profile Along Wall for Armor Stone Protection to On-Shore Containment
  • Install Armor Stone Protection Along Perimeter of Project

Retaining wall for SCSPA: Cape Romain teamed with Jay Cashman, Inc. to construct the first phase of the new Charleston Naval Base Container Terminal; the project consists of a 3000’ long front retaining wall near the channel of the Cooper River, and two 1000’ long side walls linking the front wall to the existing shoreline; the front wall was built with alternating 36”Ø pipe piles and coated AZ-19 sheet piles; the side walls were constructed with AZ-39 sheet piles; dredging was ongoing throughout the project both before the sheet pile were driven, and afterward for the correct elevation for bottom of stone protection. 180,000 tons of stone protection was placed around the wall perimeter.
