Oyster Point Trip Wall

  • Owner: D R HORTON
  • Cost: $2,342,375.00
  • Completion Date: May 2017

Scope of Services:

  • Supply and installation of approximately 3025 lf of PZH-159 Aluminum Sheet Piling

This project is for D R Horton at the Oyster Point development, located at the end of Six Mile Road, in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. This is an upscale single family development located along the marshes between Mt. Pleasant and The Isle of Palms near Eagle Island.

The "Trip Wall" measures a total length of 3025 lf. with PZH-159 aluminum sheet piling. There are four openings in the wall length, to allow for wave pressure release, should a hurricane event send a storm surge ashore. The wall will have an aluminum cap attached to the top of the wall for esthetics, as this wall will be visible from home owners back yards.

The "Trip Wall" as it is known, will greatly reduce the flood insurance requirements for the residents of Oyster Point, saving them thousands of dollars in premiums.
