Simmons Pointe Trip Wall

  • Owner:  Simmons Pointe
  • Construction Cost: $924,000
  • Completion Date:  April 2011

Scope of Services:

  • Construct 940’ of Aluminum Sheet Pile Trip Wall
  • Cast and Install 470’ of  8” Thick Concrete Lagging Wall

Trip Wall for Simmons Pointe HOA: A small crane, excavator, and loader were employed to work around the Live Oak trees along the OCRM critical line to install the aluminum sheet piling; whenever oak tree roots or drainage facilities were encountered, concrete panels and soldier piles were used to span the sensitive areas; tree limb cutting was held to an absolute minimum. The intent of the trip wall was to allow FEMA and the NFIP to remap the area within the wall from flood zone V to flood zone A, resulting in savings of approx $300,000 per year in flood insurance premiums.
