Timmerman Trail Phase II

  • Prime Contractor: AOS Specialty Contractors, Inc.
  • Construction Cost: $463,794
  • Completion Date: February 2014
  • Owner: SCANA Corp

Scope of Services:

AOS Specialty was contracted by SCANA Corp. to construct an extensive system of walkways and bridges along Congaree Creek. Besides being an environmentally sensitive area, the area also contains archeologically important Confederate earthworks and remains of Revolutionary War era Fort Congaree. Access without damaging these features was critical to project success.

Cape Romain was subcontracted to install two prefabricated weathering steel pedestrian bridges supplied by Contech. One location was a single span 105’ bridge. Both bridges crossed the Congaree Creek and the longer bridge also crosses above the Confederate earthworks.

Bridge foundations were driven 14” square pre-stress concrete pile and cast-in-place concrete caps.
