US 378 Road Widening Project over Deep Creek

  • Owner: SCDOT
  • Cost: $1,087,700
  • Completion Date: April 2017

Scope of Services:

  • Pile supported flat slab bridge
  • Temporary shoring
  • Index pile program
  • Staged construction
  • Existing culvert demolition

Cape Romain was a subcontractor to L. Dean Weaver on this project. The project consisted of 3-span flat-slab bridge to replace an existing culvert across Deep Creek in Florence County. Staged construction was required to accommodate traffic patterns, as well as two-lane traffic during the entire construction process. An index pile program was required to determine final production pile lengths. Additionally, an engineered temporary shoring system was needed to divide new construction from the existing roadway. Demolition of the original culvert took place in stages as well.
