The treasured and historic Wando shrimp dock, located on Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant, is in bad need of repairs or replacement. The Town of Mt. Pleasant bought the property and wanted to repair the dock back to a safe environment for local shrimpers. Cape Romain Contractors was able to negotiate this work as a change order to the recently completed Shem Creek Park Phase III. The contract consisted of the removal and replacement of a large area with new decking, new stringers and caps in strategic locations. The existing building was shored up with additional members to help prevent its collapse. The project ensures that the docks are safe and will last for at least three more years until the docks can be replaced.
