Project Description
Cape Romain performed demolition and removal of portions of existing timber walkways for making connections to the new structure including removal of the existing shed structure located at Table & Tavern. Crews installed new timber and concrete piles, cast in place concrete beams and precast concrete pile caps, and constructed a new timber boardwalk. Carpenters constructed a new shade structure over top of a new timber boardwalk with decorative lighting.
This project also included the construction of a new park area to include demolition of asphalt and landscaping, grading, installation of signage, installation of curbing, timber decking, brick pavers, planters, and landscaping at the pocket park.
Scope of Services
The Shem Creek Park Extension Project replaced all existing fixed piers, fixed docks and all floating docks along the north-west shore on Shem Creek. The Town of Mt. Pleasant acquired the rights to the docks, which runs along Shem Creek, from the property owners. The property still have “rights of access and use” under this agreement. The Town of Mt. Pleasant in turn will be responsible for the new structures and its maintenance.
Cape Romain removed all existing docks, floating docks, fixed structures and replaced them with new. At the Shrimpers Dock, it was split to allow private use to the Shrimpers and general access to the public. At Vickery’s, they received a new fuel station and docks. Along Water’s Edge, Mt. Pleasant Seafood and Nature Adventures Outfitters, received new fixed piers, docks and an elevated walkway that ties into Coleman Blvd. at the end of the Coleman Bridge.
