Project Description

The City of North Charleston awarded the contract to Cape Romain for the construction of a new pedestrian bridge and architectural arches as part of the new city Battery Park adjacent to Riverfront Park in N. Charleston. Cape Romain is responsible for setting and driving of prestressed concrete piling (18” and 24”) ranging from 60’ to 108’ Erecting two structural steel arches Setting of precast panels from bent to bent as well as a topping slab, construction of an 800lf pedestrian bridge over Noisette Creek, North Charleston, SC, cast-in-place concrete caps, solid precast concrete panels, structural steel beams at the main span, and decorative arches spanning 240’ with a vertical height of 53’.

The project includes landscaping on both ends of the bridge structures with an overlook area, landscaping lighting, as well as uplighting for the arches. The architectural features incldue: salt finish concrete for the deck, special architectural railing system, and saw cut decorative diamonds cut into the finished deck.
